“We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give.”
-Winston Churchill
Such as it is, we recognize that our funds are tragically limited. We are headed out as volunteers, and our combined personal savings is only enough to cover half of the journey. We are aware that our finances are meager, and hope to be fortunate in assistance from friends and strangers alike. We already expect to return home penniless, and that’s fine. We are happy to leave our pockets turned inside out, if there’s even a chance we can make a positive difference for others. That said, the more donations we receive, the more help we are provided, the more cultures we can represent, and the more lives can be changed for the better. |
We hope that it’s clear how all lives can benefit. Hearts grow and are nourished when we give of ourselves for the well-being of others. And the disadvantaged of the world cannot always help themselves, finding relief and mercy where the privileged are willing to bestow it. We understand how givers and receivers alike have an opportunity to see their lives improved by the symbiotic cycle of kindness. |

Our greatest anxiety lies in not finishing, our greatest fear that something will stop us from completing the task, or sabotage our efforts before fruition. Daniel is well aware of and I’ve read much about the potential dangers of travel (the disease, the crime, the frightening public transportation and terrifying food choices). For us, it’s just worth it to go and face it.
We have researched corporate sponsorship and grants, but not found footing in them. We have worked to network ourselves, and encountered little success (although we are deeply thankful for those who decided to give). We turn to you to help us accomplish what we set out to do. This entire Global Expedition 2015-2017 (GE1517) is an exercise in trust, in vulnerability, in charity, and in kindness. We know we need help, but (like so many who will hopefully be benefited by Catalyze Labs) we just don’t know where to start, or whether our efforts will have any kind of significant impact.
We only have faith.
We only have faith.
"Life’s most urgent questions is: What are you doing for others?" |
So our most formidable enemy becomes our shallow bank account. Both of us being poor businessmen (both literally and figuratively) we are not driven by monetary gain, and therefore not exactly the perfect players to head a campaign that would inspire donations for the cause. Our current income options are an online store for photography and a this travel blog to show readers what we are about, in hopes of any kind of support (for the record, positive encouragement is a internationally accepted currency, in my book...). |
Explore the world. Make it better.
